(NETWORK INDIANA)   As lawmakers debate whether or not to pas another coronavirus relief bill in Congress, Senator Mike Braun is outspoken on the many ways he’s against the bill.

On the Senate floor, Braun is accusing Democrats of using health agencies like the CDC to regulate healthcare businesses and “bog down the economy.” The CDC issued guidelines back in April on how to handle the coronavirus pandemic. Braun said the White House was wary about following them.

“The White House and senior health officials have rejected the initial CDC recommendations,” Braun said. “The recommendations were overly prescriptive, infringed on religious rights, and risked further damaging the economy.”

Braun said he spoke to a “pharmaceutical company headquartered in Indiana.” He said they told him they had a hard time developing testing equipment for the coronavirus because of government regulations.

Braun credits the White House with doing away with those regulations in order to ramp up testing.

“President Trump’s deregulatory agenda has proven to be an immediate success because we have gone from being initially mired in bureaucratic hurdles to leading the world in testing and flattening the curve and fighting the virus,” said Braun.

Braun is encouraging his fellow lawmakers to embrace an entrepreneurial approach to help healthcare companies to come up with treatments and testing capabilities for the coronavirus.
