Daviess County Community Corrections has concerns on revenues meeting needs this year. Community Corrections Director Diana Snyder addressed the County Council on the issue today. She said work release inmates were removed on April 9th when work release was closed due to COVID-19 safety and distancing. Those in work release were paying home detention fees instead of fees for work release. Snyder said that will result in a reduction in funds. Snyder told the council that user fees have been raised in the last month but what effect that will have is yet to be determined. She also informed the council of other expenses not related to the pandemic.
Snyder says there are worries on making payroll. In the end the council approved 3 separate additional appopriations for the Home Detenion, Community Corrections Project and Community Transition Funds in the total amount of over $380,000 to cover some immediate issues. As for the big picture the money matters will continue to be discussed and reviewed and addressed in future meetings.
