Knox County businesses working to reopen

As Knox County works towards reopening, Health Officer Dr. Alan Stewart is reminding businesses to make sure they are following the Governor’s protocols.
One state mandate involves self-serve food and beverage stations. Dr. Stewart says his office will not allow Knox County gas stations and other establishments to reopen self-serve food or beverage stations, regardless of any decision that comes down from the state. Inspectors with the Knox County Health Department are checking for compliance of this requirement.
All businesses must follow social distancing guidelines. All industry guidelines can be found online: backontrack.in.gov/industryguidelines.
If a business is unsure if they are following protocol or needs assistance, they can call the Knox County Health Department at
812-882-8080.  Meanwhile, one COVID-19 patient was released from quarantine yesterday. To date, 18 diagnosed patients have recovered out of the 20 Knox County residents diagnosed. The remaining two actively quarantined patients are scheduled to be released at the end of the week.
Knox County residents are urged to keep practicing social distancing measures and good hygiene. Dr. Stewart also continues to discourage out-of-county travel in order to reduce the chances of exposure to COVID-19, especially in counties with higher rates of cases.
