STATE SET TO OPEN UP

After Governor Eric Holcomb announced the lifting of social distancing restrictions across Indiana on Friday, the state is set to reopen today. Governor Holcomb’s five-phase plan to slowly reopen Indiana was based on a decline of coronavirus hospitalizations, refined testing measures, and less medical equipment in demand. The opening phases of the governor’s plan allows for small gatherings of up to 25 people, but those who are 65 or above are encouraged to remain home. Marion, Monroe, Lake, and Cass counties remain on a stay-at-home order until mid-May.

BMV OPENING

Hoosiers who need a driver’s license or other services may finally have a window of opportunity to get one. Now that the statewide stay-at-home order for nearly all Indiana counties has lifted, some BMV offices across the state will reopen. The BMV offices will only take scheduled appointments as branch managers say many services can be handled online.

TYSON FOODS REOPENING THIS WEEK

Tyson Foods has announced it will re-open to limited production this week. The company said that with the county’s Health Department, government, and the City of Logansport, along with a union representative and medical professional they will inspect the plant before resuming the facility. The meat processing plant stopped operations on April 25th to test employees for coronavirus. Tyson also stated it has doubled its bonus for employees in addition to increased short-term disability coverage (to 90%) to encourage those who are sick to stay home.

HOLCOMB SORRY FOR NOT BEING SOCIALLY DISTANT

Governor Eric Holcomb is apologizing after not practicing proper social distancing over the weekend. Holcomb took a selfie with two people in Brown County over the weekend, and he can be seen in the photos without wearing a protective mask. Holcomb says it was a “lapse in vigilance”. Brown County has 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus and one death.
