The Daviess County Health Department has informed the County Commissioners that as of this morning there have been 48 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Daviess County. Health Nurse Kathy Sullender says 40 have been at Ketcham Memorial Nursing Center in Odon. Those 40 people include residents and staff. The other 8 cases in the county Sullender says originated from outside of the county where a Daviess County resident was exposed. Sullender says 14 from the county have died. 13 of those were from the Odon nursing home.
Daviess County Health Officer Dr. Merle Holsopple says over all he believes the COVID-19 situation in Daviess County has reached a point to possibly start opening up for business again. That was what he told the commissioners in a conference call at the commissioners regular meeting today…

The Commissioners set a May 12th deadline to have some policies in place concerning opening up the courthouse. Like everyone else however, the county is waiting for the Governor’s Friday press conference where he is expected to start easing some of the state’s current restrictions on staying home and businesses and government offices staying closed or partially open.
