Knox County Under Travel Advisory

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency has raised the
Local Travel Status to an Advisory. An Advisory Level means that routine travel or activities may
be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or
avoid those areas.

The Travel Advisory comes as severe storms caused significant damage in Vincennes and
through out the county. This includes damage to structures, along with downed trees and power
lines. The public is advised to stay away from all affected areas. Emergency Response
Personnel and city and county departments are all assessing damages and coordinating
cleanup activities. Power and Energy Crews have been dispatched to restore services.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department is currently without phone service. Anyone needing to
contact the sheriff’s office should call 812-895-1806. All emergency calls should still be directed
to 9-1-1.

The Knox County Health Department says any clean up of storm damage still needs to be done with social distancing in mind as we
continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This means anyone working on removing debris or
fixing structural damage should remain at least six feet away from others and should be
wearing masks, gloves and protective gear.
