Communities in Senate District 39 will receive more than $7 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it was put into place, the program has awarded more than $738 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 39, the following communities received grants:

·       Alfordsville received $91,291.50;

·       Bruceville received $78,476.90;

·       Clay County received $1 million;

·       Daviess County received $1 million;

·       Hymera received $239,960.25;

·       Jasonville received $116,195.25;

·       Knox County received $603,562.50;

·       Martin County received $989,436;

·       Owen County received $787,234.50;

·       Shelburn received $497,664.75;

·       Shoals received $133,270.50;

·       Spencer received $70,745.62;

·       Sullivan County received $1 million; and

·       Washington received $408,302.

“It’s important, even during this difficult time, to maintain the roads and bridges within our community,” Bassler said. “I’m very pleased to see so many of the counties and towns in Senate District 39 awarded funding. I know we all anxiously await the day we can be out and about again, and I look forward to seeing the great projects that will be completed with these funds.”

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
