In Friday’s declared Health Emergency, the Daviess County Commissioners stated that it doesn’t indicate an emergency with the novel COVID-19 virus. The declaration simply allows for monetary and other assistance requests to be made to state and other sources.
The Daviess County Health Department requested the declaration. It allows Daviess County government to prepare to request for state and federal supplies and assets if and when needed.
For example, demand for personal protection equipment for First Responders is high and the declaration allows for request for these supplies from Federal Reserves. It also allows for reimbursement of county funds spent fighting the virus outbreak.
The declaration is in effect for 7 days and may be extended every 7 days after that.
