School closed and IHSAA Basketball Regionals Postponed

It’s been another day of cancellations, postponements and disappointments in response to an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19

Schools throughout the state announced this afternoon they would be closing for a period of time.  Due to that,  the decision was made to postpone the IHSAA Basketball Regionals after planning was made and announced yesterday to have them. The games at all 16 sites across the state won’t be played this weekend.

 

 

 

Schools in Daviess, Knox, Pike and Martin Counties have opted to closed for the next 3 weeks.

Here is the schedule:

Washington Community, North Daviess, Loogootee, and Pike County are all closed starting Monday through April 3rd.   All will have  E-Learning days the first week, Spring Break falls the next, and then the third week will be an E-Learning Day with the exception of Washington.  March 30th through April 3rd Community will be utilizing the waiver days allowed by the state in their announcements this week.  Schools can opt to use 20 days off which are not counted against the 180 days of required instruction.

Barr Reeve Schools are also closed starting Monday through April 3rd. They did not say they were using E-Learning Days.

Washington Catholic Schools are also closed for the next 3 weeks.

Shoals will use their first week off next week as a waiver days, the next week is Spring Break and then the next will be an E-Learning week.

For Vincennes, next week is Spring Break, then the next week be voluntary E-Learning and their third week will be formal E-Learning.

At South and North Knox schools,  their first two weeks will be Spring Break and waiver days. The last week beginning March 30th rd are E-Learning Days

The school closings also mean no extra curricular activities or practices.  Staff will be working in some capacity at some of the schools and the buildings will be closed for the most part to the general public.
