State Sen. Eric Bassler pleased with progress at the statehouse

State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) made the following statement
regarding the conclusion of the 2020 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 11, 2020) — “This session, the General Assembly worked on a number of issues including improving health care price transparency. House Enrolled Act 1004, which I sponsored in the Senate, would require hospitals to give patients a good faith estimate for the cost of services, rather than subjecting Hoosiers to surprise medical bills when a provider is not in their insurance network.

“In addition, we worked on a number of issues pertaining to education, including decoupling standardized test results from teachers’ annual evaluations. This will allow teachers more flexibility in the classroom and let them focus on what they do best – teaching.

“While there are always improvements to be made, I’m very pleased with the progress we made this session and I am optimistic these laws will have a positive impact on Hoosiers in Senate District 39.”
