The City of Washington will see two run-down structures taken down after action by the Board of Public Works and Safety. Mayor David Rhoads explains.
The bids to take down the structure on North Street ranged from $4,700 to $9,900. They were sent to the Building Commissioner for advisement. Meanwhile Rex Gress and Sons was awarded the bid to demolish the run-down building at 303 S. State Road 57.
Washington’s City Council also met Monday and heard the first reading on an ordinance that approved the purchase of new police vehicles. The nine patrol vehicles will cost $312, 700. A public hearing on the ordinance will be held before the next Council meeting.
The Council also introduced an ordinance approving changes in the contract with the Indiana Municipal Power Association. IMPA is the consortium of Indiana cities that provides electric power to Washington’s power grid. The amendments extend the contract from 2042 to 2050, and expand the notice needed to pull out of IMPA from 25 years to 30 years.
