The Washington City Council meets for their first meeting in March tonight.
Prior to the start, Mayor Dave Rhoads will swear in the city’s newest fireman, Darwin Fleagle.
Also a required public hearing will be held concerning the close out of state awarded Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation grant will be held. It was recently announced that the Washington area did receive grant funds from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs to rehbilitate over a dozen homes.
At the meeting the council will hear Daviess County Economic Development Corporation Director Bryant Niehoff give an annual report. Also a transfer of funds request will be heard along with the introduction of an ordinance on appopriations concerning police vehicles.
The Board of Public Works and Safety is scheduled to award a bid to demolish structures on 303 South State Road 57; open quotes for the sidewalk and curb replacement program; a request from the Parks’ Department to make southbound travel on 20th Century Drive to 4H Way a one way street and discuss some salary and position changes in the fire, water and parks departments.
The city council meets at 6:30 tonight.
