CEOs and other officials from Hospitals all over the state held a news conference today showing their opposition of House Bill 1004. The Indiana Hospital Association says the bill to be voted on by the Senate will jeopardize access to healthcare for all Indiana residents by stopping reimbursement. They say If the measure passes, hospitals will be forced to consolidate or discontinue services, and some hospitals will close.
The Senate will vote on HB 1004, which includes “site of service” provisions that will devastate hospitals across Indiana. The amended bill would allow the legislature to override private contracts between hospitals and insurance companies, and would drastically cut reimbursement for hospital-level services and procedures that are provided in hospital outpatient departments and at off-site locations.
Among those appearing at the news conference today was Good Samaritan Hospital CEO Rob McLin.
