City officials hear about Census activity

census-2020-1

The Washington City Council heard from Cindy Barber, the 2020 Census chairman for the City.   Barber told the Council that it was extremely important to get a complete count of Washington’s residents because federal funding for projects and apportionment for state and congressional representatives are based on the number of people living in Washington and Daviess County regardless of their nationality.    Barber said April 1 is “Census Day” but residents will begin receiving information in the mail in March.  Barber said the census will be conducted on-line and by paper to be sure that everyone, especially children are counted.
