The Daviess County Council has taken the next steps to grant tax abatement requests for two local industries.

Graber Post Buildings continues to expand their operations as Chad Wilson with GPB addressed the county council Wednesday explaining they’ve added 131,000 square feet at 7 buildings and have hired 7 full time employees and expect to hire 7 or 8 more.  He reported that they have 220 employees with 164 families supported with sub crews doing work for Graber Post. He says there’s been $3.7 million invested in Daviess County in equipment and updates and $4 million at their Missouri location which also benefits operations here.  The Daviess County Council voted to create an Economic Revitalization Area at the Graber Post site.  Passing that Declaratory Resolution is part of the process in granting the tax abatement.

Also, Berry Global Representative Zach Hocutt addressed the county about their request for abatement.  He talked about their 13.2 million dollars in investment in doubling their current size.  He says that dollar amount will rise.  They will hire more people, about a dozen or so as they will be be needed to run the new lines.  The company is working to develop and produce more reusable, recyclable and  compost friendly plastic films.  Currently only 20% of their products meet that criteria.  The Council voted to continue moving on the process to grant their abatement.
