A contractor building a house near Washington apparently blocked a county road and then re-routed motorists through a neighboring yard.

Scott Dyer called County Commissioner Michael Taylor about the incident last week. Dyer addressed the county commissioners Tuesday morning.  Dyer says an Indianapolis company is building a home on just over an acre on County Road 75 East near the Fountain of Life Church across the road from his home.  He said the contractor blocked the road and then directed cars to go through his yard and driveway causing some damage.  He said he was not opposed to the home being built but did not want the road closed and definitely not the traffic through his yard.         He also said he would fix the damage himself.

It was mentioned that the home was being built in a waterway and will likely cause some drainage issues in the area and in a nearby neighbor’s septic field.  There may also be some zoning issues. Those matters may be looked at later.  For now, the commissioners said they can address the road being blocked. They said if it happens again they want to be notified right away and the Sheriff’s Department will be sent to write citations.
