The Board of Public Works and Safety had a long agenda for Monday’s meeting.

In basic housekeeping, the Board voted to allow City Clerk-Treasurer Beth McGookey to cancel several uncashed checks issued by the City between May and December in 2017.   The City Utulities also received permission to write off old debts totaling about $32,000.  The write off included a bill to INDOT for $12,000.

In other business, the Board awarded asphalt contracts to E&B Paving, allowed Washington Catholic to paint the school logo on the intersection of Hefron and N.E. 2nd, approved a contract to inspect the city’s until its poles, and discussed the three-way stop at the intersection of Biddinger Lane and Viola Avenue.  The Board also approved the location for Share the Road signs around the city.

Before the Council meeting Mayor Rhoads gave the oath of office to Christian Andis as Washington’s newest firefighter.
