Today WAMW News continues our series on Protecting Our Children.  A workshop of the same name was held last week at the Washington Free Methodist Church. It concerns protecting kids from child sex abuse or molestation. The workshop included learning signs of abuse, how to recognize possible abusers and how they groom their victims and more.

One of the speakers was Huntingburg Police Detective Tyler Stivers who works sex crimes in his city.  He says one of the keys to making sure your child is safe is to supervise them diligently.  In our day, the internet is one of the main tools of deviate activity he said.  Stivers says most of his cases involve or start with activity online…

Stivers says to monitor and limit what apps your child or teen accesses. He says no one under 18 should be using Snapchat which he says was specifically designed to trade nude pictures.

Last week’s workshop training session was put on by the Southwest Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition.  You can find out more about this topic by visiting their website at swicacc.com. Hear and read  Part 4 of our series on Protecting Our Children  tomorrow on WAMW and here on wamwamfm.com
