It’s time for Daviess County to apply for Community Crossings grant funds.  Community Crossings is a partnership between INDOT and Hoosier communities, both urban and rural, to invest in infrastructure meant to create economic development or create jobs, improve transportation and quality of life.

Daviess County Highway Supervisor Phil Cornelius proposed to the County Commissioners Tuesday that they submit Sportsman’s Road as a project when applying for the Community Crossings funding this round. He said the work would involve an overlay of the road from US 50 to 600 south including paving and re- striping and possibly putting in rumble strips.

Commissioner Nathan Gabhart voiced his support of the idea saying the county needs to plan for future from a variety of ways including improving access to businesses and residences and for quality of life..

Cornelius said the project would likely cost much more than what the grant will cover.  Gabhart says it would still be a project worth doing….
