Type 0 blood needed

(NETWORK INDIANA)   If your blood type is Type O the American Red Cross is in need of your help.

They say there’s a national shortage of both O-positive and O-negative blood. They have less than a three-day supply.

During the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s, about 500 fewer blood drives were hosted by volunteer sponsor groups. Most of the groups postpone blood drives during the holidays when travel and holiday activities make it challenging for donors to donate blood.

Type O blood is the most needed blood type in the hospital. O-negative is the universal blood type and can be given to any patient. O-positive can be given to anyone with a positive blood type.

The American Red Cross is giving anyone who donates, no matter their blood type, a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl 54 in Miami.

You can find a place to donate at www.redcrossblood.org.
