West Boggs officials looking forward to a new gatehouse

If you’ve traveled on US 231 near West Boggs Park in the summer on a Friday night, you likely have been stopped in traffic from campers and others turning into popular park and campgrounds.  Jameson Hibbs is the West Boggs Park Superintendent and he told the Washington Times Herald that traffic is literally stopped at times especially during peak camping and event times like Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
A new gatehouse for the park will help alleviate the problem. It will be longer and wider and sit back farther from where the current gatehouse is.  Check in should flow better and be a bit faster.  The Daviess and Martin County Community Foundations granted funds to build the new structure. Their offering should pay for two-thirds of the cost.  Funding is due to be in by March.  Additional funding is being sought.  Hibbs said DC Metals will build the new gatehouse.
