“Today I wrote my father’s obituary. But nothing will ever capture my love for you, Dad.”
Ira L. Wilson, 68, of Petersburg, Indiana, went to his heavenly home on Dec. 28, 2019. He was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Washington, Indiana, to Ira and Marcella Wilson (Fiddler).
Ira is survived by daughter Shannon (Scott) Blaize of Jasper, Indiana; two grandchildren, Saxxon (Ben) Knies of Dubois and Skyler Kuebler of Jasper; one sister, Linda Arvin Hensley of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mona Wilson; and sister Mary Reams.
I am proud to say that my father served in the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He suffered severely from PTSD and the effects that agent orange brought. The pain he endured from Vietnam was a rough reentry into civilian life. However, he loved me and his grandchildren like no other.
My father was a very private person and never liked being the center of attention. Per his wishes there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, please be kind to someone. Call a friend or relative you haven’t reached out to recently. Visit a nursing home resident or veterans facility. All acts of kindness are appreciated. Proud Vietnam veteran daughter, love you Dad.
