County approves funds for dispatch upgrade

The Daviess County Council approved over $448,000 for a complete upgrade of the dispatch system at the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.  That includes all new phones and computers.

The Washington Times Herald quotes Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison who said the overhaul will replaced outdated 911 systems at the city department and the jail.  They hope to have the new system in place by April next year.

Meanwhile, talks of a possible joint dispatch system between the city of Washington and Daviess County may start up again soon. The talks were suspended last year due to time restraints of getting proposals together before budget talks.
