Donald R. Carroll, 90, of Plainville, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Daviess Community Hospital.

He was born September 5, 1929 in Daviess County, Indiana to Claud and Martha (Long) Carroll.

Donald was a farmer and a 1947 graduate of Plainville High School. A member of the Cornettsville United Methodist Church, he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and song leader. He served as Past President of the Historical Society, and was active in the Farm Bureau, and served as a county councilman. Don also sang in the Golden Notes Gospel Quartet where they appeared on the Ted Mac Amateur Hour in 1956.

Surviving are his wife Jeanette (Byrer) Carroll whom he married on April 25, 1954; his children Kent Carroll of Washington and Misha Engleman and her husband Bryan of Plainville; his grandchildren Taylor Carroll, Olivia Wagler and her husband Addison, Grace Carroll, Annie Engleman, and Greg Engleman; his great grandson, Kayden Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Bradley Dean Carroll; and his brothers and sisters, Iris Hoop, Juanita Ferguson, Dixon Carroll, Frank Carroll, Robert Carroll, Russell Carroll, and James Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 13, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Don Smith and Rev. Angel Abshear officiating. Burial will follow in the Cornettsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center.
