School Board hears of band and ROTC accomplishments

      The Washington School Board passed a resolution expressing renewed interest in property located at 210 N. State Road 57.   The property is adjacent to the High School/Junior High School complex.   The resolution calls for allowing work toward buying the property.

 

     The Board also heard from members of the award winning Washington High School Band.  The band members talked about coming in 2nd in the State Band Contest and said the Color Guard was undefeated in the 7 contests the band competed in this fall.  The students also modeled the new band uniforms which were the results of a 4-year fund raising campaign.

 Also, Washington’s new ROTC instructors, CDR Tim Craddock and Sr. Chief Ronnie Brown reported that Washington’s ROTC unit finished second in the academic competition among all of Indiana’s Naval ROTC units.  Craddock also recognized Washington High School Cadet Colton Godfrey for being #1 in the State ROTC individual academic competition.   

   

     In personell the Board received resignations from Mary Tomasso as the Jr. High Art Teacher, Brian Hancock as JR. High Girls Tennis Coach, and Allison Jochum as JR High Head Teacher.  Jochum will be replaced by Scott Neidigh.   

    Jennifer Peachee was named sponsor of the WHS Art Club.  Peachee, Matt Riney, and Amanda Hannah were named WHS STEM instructors.  Christine Myers will coach the WHS Spell Bowl team.   And, Riney, Lori Hancock, and Cody Chapman we’re appointed WHS Department Chairmen.
