Mary Ellen (Graber) Bateman, 73, of Loogootee, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born October 22, 1946 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Mahlon and Mattie (Yutzy) Graber.
Mary Ellen was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist and attended the Loogootee Christian Church on Sunday evenings. She loved her dog “Bear” and making noodles with her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Bateman; parents, Mahlon and Mattie Graber; brothers, Ervin (Betty) Graber, Ezra (Wilma) Graber and Mahlon Graber Jr; step-daughter, Janet (Bill) Combess; step-daughter-in-law, Wilma Bateman.
Mary Ellen is survived by her siblings, Marvin (Carolyn) Graber of Loogootee, Amanda Davis of Goshen, Delmar (Vera) Graber of Cannelburg, Delilah Fern (Tim) Sult of Loogootee, Magdalena (Kenneth) Stemen of Loogootee, Dorothy (Jim) Gilbert of Loogootee and Joan (Curt) Yoder of New Paris; 27 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; step-children, James Bateman of Loogootee, Anna Bauer of St. Louis and Mark (Kim) Bateman of Loogootee; 12 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Loogootee United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Friday, November 22, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the timer of service at the church.
