Jerald Roy “Jerry” Dixon

Jerald Roy “Jerry” Dixon, 75, of Vincennes, passed away at 11:05 pm Friday, November 8, 2019 at GentleCare of Vincennes.

Born on October 27,1944 in Gibson County, Indiana he was the son of Albert “Hawk” and Mary Helen (Bell) Dixon.

Jerry was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Vincennes and a 1962 graduate of Hazleton High School where he was the all-time points leader in basketball.

He farmed earlier in his life with his dad and retired from Packaging Corporation of America in 2006 after 40 years. Jerry served in the Indiana National Guard for nine years and was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, vegetable gardening, fishing, and was a dog lover.

Surviving are his wife Sharon (Hart) Dixon whom he married July 1, 1967; a son Jared Dixon of Vincennes; a daughter Shannon Dixon of Vincennes; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Hart of Patoka; brothers-in-laws Ryan Hart and Fred Roberts; sister-in-law Joan (Hart) Bright; his beloved dog Cotton; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother Keith Dixon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. David Roberts-Mosser officiating.  Graveside services will follow in the Hazleton Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm EST Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the GSH Hospice or GentleCare of Vincennes.  Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Jerald Dixon.
