Appeal filed in Jill Behrman murder case

Indiana Attorney General Curtis filed  a notice of intent to appeal a federal judge’s ruling to release the man convicted of killing an IU student. The crime happened nearly 20 years ago.

A federal judge in September ruled to vacate John Myers II’s murder conviction because he said he found that Myers’ 6th Amendment rights were violated by his attorney.

Myers is now 43 years old.  He was convicted in 2006 in the shooting death of 19 year old Jill Behrman who disappeared after leaving Bloomington for a bike ride in May of 200. Her remains were found in Morgan County in 2003.   T

he Morgan County Prosecutor says it will likely be months before a US Court in Chicago rules on Hill’s appeal.
