Over a thousand absentee votes have been cast

        You have a week left to vote early if you choose to do so in the November 5th Municipal and Special Elections.

        In Washington, Daviess County Clerk Janice Williams reported that as of mid morning Monday, there had been 1,020 absentee ballots cast. That includes walk-ins, mail and travel board.  On Saturday the clerk’s office was open special hours for early voting and 87 people voted over the weekend. You can vote early this week from 8:30 to 4 at the clerk’s office. The office at the Daviess County Courthouse will again be open this Saturday, Nov 2 from 8 to noon for early voting.

        The last day to vote early is a week from today on Monday, November 4th.

        Voters in Washington are voting for their candidates for Mayor, Clerk/Treasurer and 2 City Council-At Large seats.  All voters in the Washington Community School Corporation are voting on the school referendum concerning a new middle school.

        In the outlying areas there are council races in Plainville, Odon and Elnora.
