County budget work begins

budget-2-5

The Daviess County Council began the process Wednesday of setting a 2020 budget.

The Washington Times Herald reports that the request from county departments of over $34.2 million is 2 million more than this year’s budget.  The increase due partly to county employee pay increases and a small increase associated with the opening of the new Government Center.  Also, the county surveyor’s budget is increasing with an addition of an office for that department to be located in the new center.

The budget is scheduled to be finalized in a couple of weeks.
