Wava (Rodgers)  Riester, a longtime resident of Washington, IN passed away Friday the 6th of September at 6:36pm. She was at home with family when she passed.

Born June 11, 1920 to William and Shiloh (Gilley) Rodgers in Alfordsville, IN. She married Joseph F Riester on October 3, 1936. Wava became a member of the First Baptist Church at the age of 16 and participated in quilting with other members. She also loved playing cards with her friends, socializing and loved her community.

Wava was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Joseph F Riester, sons Ronald Riester and Phillip Riester, sisters Agnus, Katherine, Opal, Geneva and Mona, brothers Oris, Earl and Walter, grandson John Joseph Mize.

She leaves behind a daughter Nancy Mize of Lafayette, IN, a son J. Robin (Sandy) Riester of Washington, IN, daughter- in-law Linda Riester of Evansville, IN, grandchildren Connie(Oscar) Hamilton, Terri Ward, Holly( Douglas) Rogers all of Kansas City, KS, Charlie Jr (Darla) Mize of Lafayette, IN, Traci Whitehead, Tammy (Jeremy) Clark, Tonya Taylor, Misty (John) Marsh, Chris (Alicia) Riester all of Washington, IN, Joann (Carl) Woodley of Texas, David (Delores) Akers of Evansville, IN and Ellen Akers of Ormond Beach, FL. 25 nieces and nephews, 29 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.

She was well loved by family, friends and the community and will be greatly missed.

Friends may visit with Wava’a family from 2-6 pm Wednesday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington.  Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Daviess County Friends For Animals.
