Extension cord blamed for business fire

The state fire marshal assisted in investigating yesterday’s fire at the strip mall in south Washington near Wal-Mart.  The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department was summoned their about 6:15 Wednesday morning where they found a fire had started in the new Tokyo Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse kitchen area.  The fire was put out quickly, but the business did sustain some fire damage while other businesses adjoined to it had smoke damage and were closed for the day.
Reports are the fire’s cause was an overloaded extension cord in the food prep area.  Damage was estimated at $50,000.
