Indiana State Briefs/DUI in Evansville, meth dealer busted in Terre Haute…

—A man arrested for drunk driving in Evansville after police got some help from a bystander. Police say Maycol Tomas was being followed by a driver near I-69 and US 41 Saturday evening. The driver following Tomas called 911 saying the car in front of them driving erratically and my have a drunk driver. They were able to give police updates on where they were heading until police tracked them down on Linwood Avenue. Tomas was asked to step out of the car and take a breathlizer, in which he blew a BAC of .21 — twice the legal limit. He was arrested and taken to jail.

– A Terre Haute woman is behind bars for having meth and illegally owned guns in her home. Police did a search of the property on 3rd Avenue early Sunday morning. Police said they found 200 grams of meth, three handguns and a sawed off shotgun in the home. Kyra Grindle was arrested for outstanding warrants. Grindle is also facing charges for possession and dealing meth.

 — A 28-year-old mother of two died Sunday morning in a crash on Interstate 70. The crash happened around 4:45 in the morning in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 85. The left two lanes of eastbound I-70 were closed for about two hours following the crash. Investigators believe Kaitlin McWilliams, of Indianapolis, ran off the road and hit the concrete median wall. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. McWilliams was found lying in the left lane of the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.

— Democrat presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg says he’s “in it to win” it. The South Bend, Indiana mayor made the comment on NBC’s Meet The Press when asked whether his campaign is stalling. Buttigieg said he intends to win during this primary cycle and is not thinking about positioning himself for the next election. He said his campaign exceeded every expectation since he started with four people in a room in South Bend. A RealClearPolitics average of polling has Buttigieg at five-percent, behind Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Kamala Harris.
