Petersburg Hardware celebrated their national award they recently received yesterday with a good crowd and area lawmakers.

As reported yesterday,  Petersburg’s Do it Best Hardware is one of only five independent home improvement retailers nationwide recognized as part of the Beacon Awards Program, a premier national industry awards program developed by The Hardware Connection magazine and The Hardware Conference. The business was honored in the Best New Store over 20,000 Feet Category.

Among those helping the owners celebrate was State Senator Mark Messmer…

Also there were State Representative Ron Bacon and US Congressman Lary Bucshon.

The store started 25 years ago in a brick building on Main in Petersburg.  Revenue stalled in 2014 so the decision was made to move to a new bigger building and offer more.  The hardware store moved to the former Pamida/Shopworth facility on State Road 61 and opened in 2016.  Owner Denny Bishop says Do It Best took a chance on the new store and have been surprised by the community’s support and patronage…

Denny owns the store with his wife Sherry and daughter and son-in-law Robin and Eric Smith.
