Margaret Jean Pirkle, 83 passed away at her residence at 4:50 pm, on Monday, August 19, 2019. Margaret was born on December 13, 1935 in Pike County, IN the daughter of William and Helen (Richardson) Spray. She married James W. Pirkle on January 24, 1958 and they were married for sixty years.
Meg was a 1954 graduate of Petersburg High School and a member of First Christian Church in Washington for many years. Margaret co-owned Gill Funeral Home with her husband Jim and was Vice-President several years until their retirement. She enjoyed playing bridge and bunko and played quite often with her friends she was in card club with. In her younger years she was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing very much.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Pirkle of Washington, daughter, Michelle Brown and her husband Bill of Washington; son James W. Pirkle II of Washington and her grandchildren, Connor and Olivia Brown of Washington. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Carmen Bowman, Delores Johnson and Gertrude Gladish.
Friends may visit with Margaret’s family from 4-8 pm on Thursday August 22, 2019 at First Christian Church, 117 NE 3rd St., Washington, IN. Margaret’s funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, August 23, at First Christian Church with Bro’s Byron Holtsclaw and Richard Smith officiating.
