Daniel L. Kane, 78, of Washington, passed away at 6:47 pm Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at his residence.
He was born October 3, 1940 in Corning, Indiana to Daniel F. and Mildred (Guy) Kane.
Dan retired from the City of Washington Electrical Department and was a member of the First Christian Church. Dan was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School and enjoyed sports, especially the Washington Hatchets and the Indiana University Hoosiers.
Surviving are his wife, Jean E. (McLin) Kane whom he married on May 2, 1986; his children, Shawn Kane and his wife Brandy of Huntingburg, Shelly Kane (Fred Hensley) of Huntingburg, Lisa Emmick and her husband Ray of Washington; his five grandchildren, Austin, Tanner, and Addyson Kane, Ryan and Jordan Emmick; and his brothers and sisters, Mickey Burkhart of Plainville, and Mary Ruth Kerns, James Kane, and Sharon Cornelius, all of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Carolyn Shafer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN with Rev. Byron Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church or the Helping Hearts Hospice.
