Inmates at the Daviess County SecurityCenter will have a new method to communicate with family members after the Daviess County Commissioners approved a communication system similar to texting.   Sheriff Gary Allison said that, while this is a new system for Daviess County, many counties have had success with the system.  Allison said all messages will be monitored by the Sheriff’s Department and the devices cannot be used as phones or to access the internet.   Inmates would pay $4 for use of the device plus 10 cents per message. The service will be provided by Combined Communication.   Allison also told the Commissioners that there would be approximately 60 devices for the 220 inmates.
