About 130 coal miners in southern Indiana will soon be out of a job. Peabody Coal yesterday said it will close its mine in Somerville sometime this fall. The company says the mine is not profitable, despite pulling two million tons of coal out of the ground last year. Gibson County leaders say the mine is one of their largest employers, so they fear the closing will hurt.
