Juanita Meade, 90, of Washington, formerly of Glendale, passed away at 11:00 am Monday, July 29, 2019 at The Villages of Oak Ridge.
She was born February 22, 1929 in Washington, Indiana to Oral and Louie (Rhodes) Gootee.
Juanita had worked at Sears Roebuck and Company for many years and later as secretary for Christ United Methodist Church in which she was a member. Juanita was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and attended Union Hospital School of Nursing.
Surviving are her children, Marilyn Meade and her husband Leon of Delray Beach, Fl, and Donna Brandenburg of Washington; a sister Rosetta Cissell of Lakeland, Florida; her grandchildren Rachelle Davis and her husband Denny, Jackson Ray Meade, Abby Cornelious and her husband Wess, and Brian Theroff and his wife Karly; and her great grandchildren, Bryce Cornelius, Brenden Cornelius, Briley Cornelius, Brienna Cornelius, and Celine Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Ray Meade whom she married on February 3, 1951 and preceded her on September 16, 2006; a son David Meade; a brother Roscoe Gootee; and sisters Aline Gootee and Gladys Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN 47501. Burial will follow in the East Union Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Juanita Meade.
