Bacon’s law prevents disability discrimination at hospitals

A new Indiana law prevents hospitals from discriminating against people with disabilities. Representative Ron Bacon says he authored the bill because patients who need transplants are sometimes bumped down on the waiting list if they have a disability. It also prohibits health insurance plans from denying patients insurance coverage for transplants based on disability. If a patient feels as though they are being discriminated against, they can file a civil action lawsuit.

Bacon serves District 75 which covers parts of Pike, Warrick and Spencer Counties.
