Huntingburg Man Arrested for Armed Robbery in Jasper

On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at approximately 3:03 p.m. officers with the Jasper Police Department located the suspect vehicle involved in the armed robbery near Sure Stay Hotel.

(Dubois County Free Press) – Officers performed a traffic stop upon the suspect vehicle and were able to take the suspect, Collin Thomas, into custody. Thomas was transported to the Jasper Police Department for questioning before being taken to the Dubois County Security Center and being booked in with the following charges: Robbery-Level 3 Felony; Pointing a Firearm-Level 6 Felony; Theft-Level 6 Felony; and Criminal Mischief-Class B Misdemeanor.

According to police, they were dispatched to the Fast Track Marathon gas station, 1307 N. Main Street, for the report of an armed robbery on Monday at 8:15 p.m. A man dressed in black and wearing a mask entered the store armed with a pump-action shotgun and demanded money from the register.

The suspect attempted to break into the clerk’s office door, but the clerk surrendered the cash drawer. The suspect grabbed the cash and fled the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators reviewed the security cameras and were able to identify the vehicle and suspect.
