There are billions of dollars in unclaimed money from bank accounts, insurance policies, or other financial assets waiting to be claimed.

Monday morning, staff members from the Indiana Attorney Generals Mobile Outreach Office were at Washington’s Carnegie Public Library to help Daviess County residents locate and claim property to which they may have a claim.

Kristen Williams, Senior Outreach Coordinator for the Attorney General’s Office, told WAMW that filing a claim is easy.

Williams says that you will be asked to fill out a form verifying information and checks will be mailed to verified claimants within 90 days.

Williams says several of the unclaimed accounts belong to deceased residents, so relatives should check the site for those accounts also.   Williams says it is worth the time.

Williams also says individuals can call 1-866-IN-CLAIM for assistance.  And to repeat the web site:  www.indianaunclaimed.gov.
