-The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office released details of what they called an active police situation Tuesday night that forced the closure of a portion of County Road 900-East for a few hours.       At 7:30-pm Tuesday, a woman called authorities reporting that 53-year-old John Zehr was threatening to harm himself and other family members at a home at 4702 North 900-East Montgomery next to Steve’s Country Market.  They said he was armed with an SKS Rifle and had heard one shot.  Officers and the Sheriff’s Department SRU Team were dispatched.      Upon arrival a small section of the road was closed and local families evacuated as a precaution.  Negotiators spoke with Mr. Zehr who agreed to exit the residence and he did and was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries.  Zehr was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and the investigation continues.

-A Washington man was arrested by Conservation Officers on Wednesday for being a Habitual Traffic Offender and Criminal Trespass.  Bond for 29-year-old William Fisher was set at $2500.
