Michael Earl Kean, 47, passed away in Carlisle at 5:41 pm on June 5, 2019. Mike was born on February 11, 1972 in Vincennes, the son of William Franklin and Sandra Lee (Fox) Kean.
Mike was of the Pentecostal faith and had been a coal miner for Peabody Bear Run Mine for several years. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working on cars, spending time with his family and going to cookouts. Mike adored his son Austin the most and was very proud to be his dad.
Survivors include his son, Austin Kean of Bruceville; significant other, Nichole Mitchell; mother of Mike’s son and ex-wife, Melissa Kean; his siblings, brother, Thomas Lee Kean, brother, Teddy Franklin Hatfield, sister, Starlet Dawn Kean, brother, Clarence Johnny Kean; nieces and nephews, Matthew Kean, Elijah Kean, Amber Lane, Tyler Hatfield, James Wheeler, Joshua Hatfield, Erica Martinez-Lopez, Hayley Kean, Jeremiah Keneipp, Blake Kean, Dalton Kean, Harlena Kean and Braydon Kean; ex father-in-law, Robert Hart. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit with Mike’s family from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. Mike’s funeral service will begin at the conclusion of visitation on Monday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Evans officiating. Mike will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Riley Children’s Hospital. Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to assist the Kean family with arrangements.
