Area college students may have to dig deeper into their pockets.
Vincennes University leaders held a public hearing on a 2.9 percent tuition increase on Monday. And Indiana University’s Board of Trustees is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a proposed 2.5 percent tuition hike for in-state students, with a 3 percent hike for out-of-state students at the Bloomington Campus, on Wednesday.
The Vincennes Sun Commercial reports that VU President Chuck Johnson said that the proposed tuition hike was the result of increases in the cost of faculty and staff pay, along with increases in utility, repair, maintenance and property rehabilitation costs.
