The Rotary Club of Washington (IN), is proud to announce the recipient of our 2019 Rotary Scholarship.

Emily Fields, a senior from Washington Catholic High School is the recipient of the 2019 Rotary Centennial Scholarship. Emily was awarded $2000 for her essay on “Be the Inspiration.”

The Rotary scholarship was awarded not only based on grades but on service to the community, references, and an essay that was based on the theme of this Rotary year, “Be the Inspiration,” and the Rotary 4-Way Test –

1)Is it the Truth?

2) Is it Fair to all concerned?

3)Will it build Good Will and Better friendships?

4)Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Rotarians across the world strive to live by the 4-way Test.

The goal of the Rotary Scholarship this year was to build greater awareness with our youth about Rotary as they prepare to go to college. Emily’s essay emulated these principles wonderfully and are honored to have awarded her with this scholarship as she begins her studies at Purdue University in the fall of 2019.

Rotary would thank all who applied and look forward to next year as we offer this again. Washington Rotary Club is dedicated to serving our youth in Daviess County and each year we sponsor youth to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards held the last week of October for students in grades 9-12, our High School 4-Way speech contest held each year in January or February, and our newly formed Centennial Scholarship of $2000.
