Daviess County employees are in line for a 3% raise next year….that is, if County officials follow the suggestion of an appointed committee.   The committee, consisting of Council members Kent Norris, Pat Dant, and Tony Duncheon looked at several local, state, and national economic indicators, and added in the factor that Daviess County will receive an additional $425,000 in revenue next year without raising the tax rate.   Reporting the committee’s recommendation, Norris said it was important to keep good employees and noted that Daviess County’s pay scale is still in the lower half of the state’s 92 counties.

In other business, the Council passed a resolution indicating interest in the County purchasing a house at the intersection of NE 4th and Herron Streets.  If the purchase is completed, the property will be added to property the County already owns and will serve as a  parking lot to serve the Court House and the new Government Center, which is nearing completion.
