Traffic delays possible on SR 37 in Martinsville this weekend

Traffic between Indianapolis and Bloomington is expected to be heavier than normal over the weekend because of commencement ceremonies at Indiana University and the end-of-semester exodus of students leaving the I.U. campus.

Motorists are reminded that lane restrictions are in place on southbound SR 37 at Grand Valley Boulevard in Martinsville and should anticipate slowed or stopped traffic as far north as SR 44. Travelers from the north wishing to avoid potential delays in Martinsville can reach Bloomington by using SR 67 south to SR 39 to I-69 or I-65 south to SR 46 west.

There are no restrictions on northbound SR 37 in Martinsville, but the area is an active construction zone between Ohio Street and SR 252. The posted speed limit is 45 miles per hour.

All drivers are encouraged to watch their speed, leave plenty of room between vehicles and drive with no distractions.  An enhanced law enforcement presence will be in the Martinsville area over the weekend.
