Philip E. Strange, 82, of Loogootee, passed away at 9:45 p.m. May 1, 2019 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

He was born October 26, 1936 in Bramble, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Ella (Williams) Strange.

Philip was a proud United States Army veteran and served in Germany. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching Indiana University and Loogootee High School basketball and Notre Dame football. He liked playing cards, especially euchre. He enjoyed walking and competed in many 5k races such as the Loogootee Summerfest, Shoals Catfish and Jasper Strassenfest.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (Arnold) Strange; infant daughter; great-grandson, Lyncoln Strange; parents, Roscoe and Ella (Williams) Strange; siblings, Andy (Mary Ann) Strange, Fannie (Jack) Trout, Doris (Ed) Smith and Gordon Strange; brother-in-law, Benny Summers.

Philip is survived by his sons, Michael Strange of Loogootee and Danny Strange of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughters, Trista Strange and Kyanna (Wade Arvin) Strange; great-grandchildren, Skylyr Raney, Kori, Kaia, and Kross Arvin; sister, Camilla Summers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
