E-Learning Day deemed a triumph

      Washington’s E-Learning Day on March 22, was a success.   Asst. Superintendent Kevin Frank told the Washington School Board that based on the results, that the school system is set to implement as many as 3 E-Learning days next year.   Frank reported that the feedback for the E-Learning was very positive.   Frank said that the use of E-Learning Days would depend on teachers having enough lead-time to prepare the lessons when school is cancelled by inclement weather. 

      The School Board also honored Brynna Omer, a Veale Elementary 4th grader, for finishing in the top 40 of the 221 Jr Chefs in Sodexo’s annual competition.  Brynna is the daughter of Doctors Jason and Leslie Omer. 

 

       In personnel action, the Board approved the appointment of R.J. Key as the WHS Dance Team Coach.   Gregory Johnson was approved as a PE Aide at the junior high.    The Board also accepted the resignations of PE Aide Derek Schnarr, HS Boys Asst. Track Coach Elijah Punturi, and HS Enhlush teacher Audrey Wilson.

  In other business, the Board accepted a $2,000 donation from Thompson’s Insurance to support the BPA clubs trip to the National competition in Anaheim, California.   The Board also approved WHS and WJHS Beta Club trips to National Competitions in Oklahoma City.  A proposed Spanish class trip to Costa Rica in the summer of 2020, also received Board approval.   

     At the end of the meeting, Washington Superintendent, Dr. Dan Roach, announced the scheduled April 22 work session to discuss a possible building project has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
